EXPERIENCED LEADERSHIP FOR OUR COMMUNITY
Dwayne Thompson was born and raised in Memphis and attended public schools in Memphis and Shelby County. He was the first in his family to attend college. He graduated with a degree in political science and economics from the University of Memphis, where he later did graduate work in business administration. Dwayne served our country for six years in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Dwayne worked as a Human Resources administrator and manager for over 30 years for public and private organizations. HR gave him experience in organizational planning and helping to formulate and administer corporate budgets. It also has given him insight into how investing in people makes a company grow and prosper.
Dwayne's community involvement includes volunteering for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Open Arms, and, as a cancer survivor, in counseling and assisting those undergoing cancer treatments. Dwayne is a member of the Wolf River Conservancy and the Shelby Farms Conservancy. He has worked with his children's PTAs and the Cordova Leadership Counsel.
He has been a sensible voice in improving the Democratic Party, making it more in tune with the concerns of regular people.
